Imagine a spectacle is an independent event with a view to bringing together intellectual capital from a wide range of creative and intellectual spheres. The spectacle aims to encourage forward thinking and propose new ways of perceiving and structuring the world. The word ‘imagine’, directs us to look forward and imagine-make a spectacle-a world that we all want to see.
Given the current economic, political and social challenges, and the tacit crisis of values, we aim to initiate a process of change. The objective of the spectacle is to encourage each individual to reflect and eventually take his or her own responsibility for the sustainable development of our economies and wise conceptualization of the future. Imagine a spectacle brings to light the urgency for change and stands for a new approach, both on the theatre stage as well as on the stage of our lives.
The spectacle space gathers actors and spect-actors from different fields to provoke an intellectual exchange of ideas between people from many walks of life, from individual authorities, researchers and artists to academics, students, sociologists and philosophers. The key element of the play is the co-creative script, which in its concept stimulates imagination, involves ideas and motivates to contribute. This reflects a model of a revived society, one which invites active participation and allows freedom to look outside of the frame.
Imagine a spectacle offers an innovative space for intellectual expression, reflection and learning. The play aims to eliminate the gap between performers and spectators, through encouraging both, actors and audience to reciprocal engagement and reflection. This will stimulate a unique experience for all participants and provoke co-thinking through co-feeling.
We believe the ability to raise relevant questions is as valuable as the aptitude to provide the answers. Imagine a spectacle aspires to incite such talks, reflections and emphatic inquiries, which will eventually inspire a re-thinking of contemporary issues and encourage us to face the challenges of today.
